DHL Supply Chain is investing £550mn to scale up automation and infrastructure across the UK, adding over 1,000 robots to its operations. The rollout includes the UK debut of Boston Dynamics' Stretch robots, capable of unloading up to 700 boxes per hour, alongside 750+ existing Locus Robotics units.
The move supports DHL’s Strategy 2030, aiming to increase revenues by 50% by the end of the decade, while aligning with the UK’s push for post-Brexit trade growth. With more than €1bn already spent on automation in three years, DHL is leaning heavily into robotics and digitalisation to boost ecommerce and healthcare logistics.
DHL says the investment is about scale, precision, and future-proofing supply chains for a high-growth, high-demand market.
