Sweden’s Ericsson, a global telecommunications and digital solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with InfraX, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, to advance the digital transformation of the United Arab Emirates’ utility sector. The agreement was formalised during GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai.
The partnership aims to co-develop Internet of Things (IoT) and automation use cases to strengthen operational efficiency, sustainability, and scalability across Dubai’s electricity and water systems. InfraX, responsible for DEWA’s digital infrastructure and advanced communications services, will leverage Ericsson’s global expertise in automation, mission-critical networks, and data-driven innovation to build a smarter, more connected utility ecosystem.
As part of the collaboration, both entities will exchange technical knowledge, develop real-time operational insights, and integrate IoT applications into DEWA’s digital grid. InfraX’s licensed IoT platform will also enable commercialisation opportunities for enterprises seeking to expand digital connectivity across the UAE’s industrial base.
Rashid Alahmedi, Chief Operating Officer of InfraX, said the collaboration strengthens Dubai’s mission to establish secure and sustainable smart utilities. Petra Schirren, Head of Ericsson GCC, added that the partnership underscores Ericsson’s long-term commitment to the UAE’s national digital agenda by developing scalable digital utility solutions.
The MoU builds on existing cooperation between the two companies in guiding utility digitalisation and sets the foundation for broader sector-wide transformation initiatives.
