Ericsson has inaugurated a new office in Lusaka, Zambia, aimed at enhancing its local and regional presence while supporting Zambia’s digital transformation ambitions. Zambia’s Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, highlighted the role of Ericsson’s presence in advancing the country’s National Digital Transformation Strategy 2023-2027. The strategy seeks to integrate digital technologies across all sectors, enhance productivity, create jobs, and promote economic growth. Its five core pillars include digital infrastructure, platforms, services, literacy and skills, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

In practical terms, the initiative will expand broadband coverage, increase telecom towers and data centres, and upgrade existing networks to support 4G and IoT connectivity. Ericsson’s expanded operations aim to enable businesses and public organisations to leverage digital technologies effectively while ensuring sustainability and inclusivity.

The Lusaka office also positions Ericsson to support local enterprises and government agencies in adopting AI, cloud services, and advanced connectivity solutions. By deepening its operational footprint in Zambia, Ericsson is aligning its global expertise with the country’s digital transformation objectives.
