Belfast-based software company Kainos is set to create 341 new jobs across Northern Ireland over the next three years, with roles spanning software engineering, platform and data engineering, AI and data science, architecture, product and Workday consulting, as well as delivery, design and business support functions.

The expansion, reported by Channel Web, will see 32 positions based in the company's Derry office, with the remaining roles located in Belfast, at an average salary of £58,000.

Invest NI has offered £1.5 million in support towards the creation of the new positions, reflecting the strategic importance of the expansion to Northern Ireland's growing technology employment base and its ambition to attract and retain high-value digital talent across both Belfast and the north-west.

Brendan Mooney, CEO of Kainos, said: "This expansion reflects growing customer demand for our AI digital transformation services across the public, health and commercial sectors. By investing in our people, including 200 company-wide early career roles alongside these experienced positions, we will be able to do more for our customers as they put AI to work."

The 200 early career roles referenced by Mooney form part of a company-wide investment in developing talent pipelines alongside the experienced hires, positioning Kainos to build long-term capability in AI and digital services rather than relying solely on lateral recruitment to fill the growing skills gap.

The new hires will bolster Kainos's capacity to deliver AI-driven digital transformation across its core markets, building on an established presence in public sector, health and commercial verticals where demand for AI-integrated services has accelerated significantly in recent years.

Founded in Belfast, Kainos operates across 20 countries and currently employs more than 3,500 staff throughout Europe and North America. The company opened its Derry office in 2011 and operates as a Workday partner alongside its broader digital services and AI capabilities.

The announcement follows Kainos's recently reported 17% increase in annual revenue and a £150 million contract win with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, reflecting sustained commercial momentum as the business scales its AI and digital transformation offering across both public and private sector clients.
