Philippine bank Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) has formalised a strategic partnership with Digital Edge (Singapore) Holdings Pte. Ltd. to migrate its IT production site to the NARRA1 data centre.

This collaboration forms a key pillar of RCBC’s 2026 digital roadmap, aiming to enhance operational resilience, support AI adoption, and handle increasing digital transaction volumes.

“Digital Edge’s operational track record, sustainability-centred engineering expertise, and commitment to security made them the right partner for us,” said John Alabastro, RCBC Chief Information Officer. “We have selected NARRA1 because it offers both the technical capacity and environmental efficiency needed by a modern, fast-scaling bank like ours.”

Digital Edge describes NARRA1 as the Philippines’ largest operating carrier-neutral data centre. It features a Tier 3 architecture designed for high availability, including 100% dual-power redundancy, and leverages renewable energy while holding LEED Gold and TIA-942-C certifications, aligning with RCBC’s sustainability objectives.

Vic Barrios, President and CEO of Digital Edge Philippines, added, “RCBC’s decision to place its production workloads in NARRA1 reflects this momentum and validates our commitment to providing banking-grade infrastructure built for security, uptime, and high-density performance.”

The partnership reflects a broader trend in the Philippine financial sector to modernise legacy systems and adopt hybrid cloud technologies. RCBC anticipates that the move will strengthen its IT backbone, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and deliver secure digital banking services to customers, while also future-proofing its operations for AI-driven growth and innovation.
