Esri Ireland, the market leader in Geographic Information Systems, has announced a partnership with DataBuilders to help organisations connect data held across enterprise systems and use it for faster, more informed decisions. The partnership combines Esri Ireland's geospatial technology and GIS services with DataBuilders' expertise in making enterprise data reliable, connected and usable.

DataBuilders is a Dublin-based data intelligence and consulting firm; its turnover and EBITDA are not publicly disclosed. Esri Ireland, headquartered in Holywood, Co Down, was founded in the late 1980s and is the largest pure play GIS company on the island of Ireland, with more than 80 full-time and 25 contract employees serving 300 customers across 17 sectors; its turnover and EBITDA are not disclosed.

Public and private sector organisations across government, infrastructure and commercial markets are increasingly running programmes that combine GIS, enterprise systems, cloud migration and AI, drawing on data held across multiple systems and formats. Where this data is not properly connected or governed, delivery slows and organisations get less value from their technology investment.

Under the partnership, DataBuilders' Safe Software certified FME specialists will work with Esri Ireland's project teams to connect data and automate how it moves across systems, reducing duplication and lowering delivery risk for customers. Once connected and governed within ArcGIS, Esri's location intelligence platform, organisations can use geospatial analytics more effectively and build the data foundations needed for AI programmes.

Aoibhinn Stuart, CEO of DataBuilders, added: "Most organisations don't have a technology problem, they have a data problem hiding underneath it."

The structural driver is the growing dependence of AI and digital transformation programmes on connected, governed data, a prerequisite that GIS-focused organisations increasingly lack the specialist capability to deliver alone.

For the sector, this signals a shift toward vendor partnerships that pair domain-specific platforms like ArcGIS with dedicated data engineering expertise, as organisations treat data readiness as a distinct discipline from GIS deployment itself.
