Omantel has launched Otech, a unified technology company designed to advance digital transformation, strengthen digital sovereignty and accelerate Oman's transition to a knowledge-based economy, according to The Fast Mode.
The initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, focusing on infrastructure modernisation, digital solution implementation and national talent development in cloud computing, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
H.E. Mulham bin Bashir Al-Jarf, Deputy President of the Oman Investment Authority and Omantel Chairman, said Otech represents Omantel's evolution from telecommunications operator to modern technology company. The company will modernise infrastructure, introduce digital solutions and empower national talent across emerging technology sectors.
Eng. Aladdin bin Abdullah Baitfadhil, Omantel CEO, said: "Otech will unify the company's technological ecosystem, enabling stakeholders to adopt future technologies with confidence while supporting economic diversification and national competitiveness."
The integration consolidates Oman Data Park and other subsidiaries under Otech, strengthening digital infrastructure through secure cloud, AI, Internet of Things and cybersecurity solutions. The recently launched Farq Data Centre enhances digital sovereignty by providing scalable mission-critical environments.
Strategic partnerships include collaborations with Oracle, PwC, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet and local startups, focusing on cloud services, cybersecurity, AI and systems integration. Otech aims to localise technologies, build national capabilities and position Oman as a regional innovation hub.
