Canadian enterprise data management company OpenText (NASDAQ/TSX: OTEX) has announced a €105 million investment in Ireland that will create 400 new jobs across its Cork and Galway sites over the next three years, doubling its existing commitment to the country and significantly expanding its agentic AI, cybersecurity, sovereign cloud and digital operations capabilities for EMEA clients.
The investment, reported by IDA Ireland, is described as the single largest investment into Ireland by a Canada-headquartered technology company.
Irish-based developers and researchers will design, deploy, secure and operate AI and cloud capabilities for European, Middle Eastern and African markets, with R&D focused on three foundational areas: agentic AI orchestration and governance, data sovereignty compliance mechanisms, and cybersecurity built natively for regulated environments.
Shannon Bell, EVP, Chief Digital Officer and CIO at OpenText, said: "This investment expands our EMEA R&D and operations capacity to deliver the trusted AI, cybersecurity, and cloud capabilities our clients already rely on globally, while giving European organisations greater regional support and flexibility across the cloud environments of their choice."
In agentic AI, OpenText research will advance multi-agent collaboration, system boundary enforcement and knowledge sharing across sovereign zones. In data sovereignty, developers will build continuous compliance mechanisms giving organisations verifiable control over data location and governance as AI environments grow more dynamic. Cybersecurity research will focus on federated threat detection and response for regulated environments.
The investment supports OpenText's cloud-of-choice strategy, enabling clients to operate across hybrid public cloud, private cloud and sovereign cloud environments based on their regulatory and security requirements. The company intends to explore university and research collaboration in Ireland as part of its long-term talent and innovation strategy.
OpenText has operated for more than 35 years and serves organisations requiring secure data management, cybersecurity and operational resilience at enterprise scale.
