Ireland’s digital transformation landscape is entering a high-investment phase as seven collaborative R&D projects secure almost €39m in new backing through the latest Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF) round.
The allocation brings total funding for DTIF Call 7 to €159m, marking the most commercially significant round to date.
The selected ventures, each receiving between €2.9m and €9.1m, unite SMEs, major multinationals and Irish research institutions to deliver high-value technologies in MedTech, Life Sciences, artificial intelligence and sustainable agriculture.
The emphasis across the cohort is on solutions that can fast-track market readiness and enable scalable commercial deployment across global industries.
The new projects include an AI-driven digital healthcare platform designed to streamline diagnostics and treatment pathways.
Another consortium is developing automation tools to deliver faster, more accurate testing for colorectal cancer, targeting measurable efficiency gains for clinical providers.
A separate agriculture-focused project is advancing pasture-based livestock systems that improve nutrient use while reducing emissions—a model expected to improve operational productivity for farming enterprises.
Highlighting the strategic value of the awards, Peter Burke TD said: “Almost €159m has now been awarded to 27 projects that will play a pivotal role in addressing the major challenges facing our society and economy, such as meeting Ireland’s climate obligations, driving digital transformation, advancing Artificial Intelligence and green technologies, developing innovative health technologies and services and supporting upskilling initiatives to maintain Ireland’s global competitiveness.”
James Lawless TD added that the level of industry demand reflected strong commercial momentum, stating: “The success of Call 7 has surpassed all expectations. It is inspiring to see so many collaborative partners from industry and academia committed to driving innovation in Ireland.”
